Call for Entries: Statewide Essay & Poetry Competition under Nasha Mukt Sikkim Campaign

The Social Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim is pleased to announce an Essay & Poetry Competition to raise awareness about the harms of substance abuse. This initiative is part of the Nasha Mukt Sikkim Campaign in observance of Anti-Drugs Day.

Theme

“The Positive Outlook and Negative Outcome of Substance Abuse.”

Important Dates

  • Submission Opens: 9 May 2025
  • Deadline for Submissions: 23 May 2025
  • Result Announcement & Felicitation: 26 June 2025 during the International Day Against Drugs celebration

Prizes

  • ₹10,000 each for winners in every category
  • E-certificates for all participants
  • 4 Winners Total:
    • Essay: 1 Nepali + 1 English
    • Poetry: 1 Nepali + 1 English

Categories & Rules

  • Essay: 300–500 words
  • Poetry: Minimum 5 stanzas
  • Format: PDF
  • Font: Times New Roman (English), Preeti/Kantipur (Nepali)
  • Submission Email Subject: “Essay/Poetry Submission – [Name] – [Language]”

  • Language & expression

Eligibility

  • Open to all individuals from the state of Sikkim
  • Original & unpublished entries only
  • One entry per person
  • Plagiarism test will be conducted

ARMY RESCUES 2500 TOURISTS

A total of 382 vehicles left safely from 17th mile area and about to reach back to Gangtok. Tthe tourist stranded at Tshangu Lake and 15 th Mile have been fully evacuated and brought down to Gangtok. 5-6 vehicles which has broken down due to mechanical failure has been left back and will be brought down after being repaired tomorrow. No tourists have been left back as confirmed by Army and check post police officers!Army shall call off its rescue operation at 1800 hrs today.
