Notification under Section 3A of the National Highways Act, 1956 issued.

Purpose: Widening of NH-10 to 2-lane with paved shoulder and slope protection from Km 64.000 to Km 80.000 (Singtam to Ranipool), Gangtok District, Sikkim.

  • Objections invited within 21 days from Gazette publication, under Section 3C(1).

State Government Promotes Self-Attestation for Most Documents, Except a few issued by LRDM Department

In a significant step toward simplifying administrative procedures and promoting citizen-centric governance, the State Government has announced a new policy enabling self-attestation of most documents. The policy aims to streamline processes and reduce dependency on attestation by Gazetted Officers.

  1. Exclusions: While self-attestation is permitted for most documents, the following sensitive documents must still be verified and attested by designated authorities such as District Magistrates, Additional District Magistrates, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, or Gazetted Officers from the Land Revenue and Disaster Management (LRDM) Department:

    • Sikkim Subject Certificate

    • Certificate of Identification

    • Residential Certificate

    • Land Records Certificates/Documents

  2. Accountability:

    • Any false attestation or authentication of documents will be treated as forgery under Sections 463, 464, 24, and 25 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.

    • Applicants must submit a self-declaration form as specified in Annexure-A of the notification.

Transport Department of Sikkim Announces Full Bus Fare Concession for PWDs and BPL Women

Starting September 11, 2024, the Sikkim government has announced a 100% concession on bus fares for individuals with over 40% degree of disability and women falling under Below Poverty Line (BPL) category. According to the notification (enclosed below) from the Transport Department, SNT Division this concession applies to both intra-state and inter-state bus services, including those operated by private parties.

To benefit from the concession,

  • Persons with disabilities (PWDs) must present a valid Unique Disability ID card with 40% and above degree of disability issued by Government of India.
  • Women in the BPL category must provide a BPL certificate issued by the Directorate of Economics, Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation (DESME).
